Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH MY DATA?
Our guiding principles are:
You are not the product we are selling.
You are paying us for a service.
You shouldn't have to accept advertising and other data selling practices for that service.
We believe your data belongs to you. While we collect data about your
energy and electricity usage, we are custodians of that data. We do not
own it. Our ethos is to make that data as transparent to you as
possible, so you can use it to make the best decisions for you.
ONE. We will not sell or show you advertising.
We make our money from charging a subscription for the service we provide. We don't generate revenue from advertising.
TWO. We will not sell or show any data we collect to others for advertising.
We still don't generate revenue from advertising. We also frankly don't like that business model and think it has a lot of downsides to you, us and society.
THREE. We will not sell or show any of your personal data to any third parties.
Many companies pass on your data even if it isn't for advertising purposes. There is a possible exception to this, which you can see below.
FOUR. We will delete all your data at any point if you request it or want to stop our service.
As a European company we are bound by GDPR rules, so this is not only our promise, but a legal requirement.

AN EXCEPTION. Anonymous, aggregated data of electricity usage to national grids and suppliers.
We may provide anonymised and aggregated data to national grids, energy producers or energy suppliers. "Anonymised and aggregated" means: none of your personal information will be identifiable. Your usage will not be visible as a single individual. Your energy usage may be part of overall statistics we provide to others.
We may do this expressly to make your electricity networks operate more efficiently. Household-level data on energy use is almost entirely invisible to operators in the electricity network (such as your supplier, energy producers, or regulators) but it allows them to better understand how to match supply and demand patterns. This reduces waste in the system, so brings down costs to you and everyone else. So this use of your data means you will benefit, and help your community and the environment. We think this is important.
But, if you disagree, you can opt out of this data sharing at any time using an option in your customer profile.
