What is a Property?
A Property is your home, rental or business premises in which you use your Polare Controller. We allow for three categories of Property:
Home
Your own house or apartment
Rental

A property that you rent to others, such as a holiday cottage.
Business

A business premises that you own or manage.

We use these different categories because the pattern of daily use is likely to be very different, so it allows us to give you more accurate options and service.
Once you have created a Property, you can then set up other information about it:
- Rooms
- Location
- Electricity tariff
All of these can then be added to a
Profile, which allows us to generate savings schedules for your Polare Controller.
Add a Property
The first time you register a Polare Controller, you will be taken through the full setup process for a Profile, including defining your Property. However, if you do not want to do this at that time, if you want to add another Property, or if you want to edit an existing Property, you can access this through the
My Properties (

) page.
- Tap on My Properties (
) on the bottom menu of the app
- Tap on
and follow the setup instructions
For more information on how to set up a Property, see our Setup article.
Edit a Property
Once you have added and set up a Property, you can rename it or change any information about that Property.
- Tap on My Properties (
) on the bottom menu of the app
- Tap on a Property to select and go to the Property screen:
To rename a Property, tap on the name at the top of the screen
To
edit the details of a Property, tap on the Property icon at the top of the screen, and then on the setup (

) icon
To
delete a Property, tap on the Property icon at the top of the screen, and then on the delete (

) icon
From this page you can also add and edit information about the Rooms in your Property.
Electricity Tariff
Information about your electricity tariff is critical for you to get the best possible savings. During Property setup, we will ask you for your type of electricity tariff. We define them as four types:
- Dynamic. A tariff that charges you a different price at the hourly or half-hour intervals.
- 3 Period. A tariff that charges you different prices during 3 periods of the day, usually: night time, peak-time (breakfast and evening), day-time
- 2 Period. A tariff that charges you different prices during 2 periods of the day, usually night and day.
- Fixed. A tariff that charges you the same price regardless of time.

Please note that the Polare service cannot work with the Fixed tariff. You will not be allowed to select this during Setup, we only provide the option to give you this warning!
For more information about electricity tariffs in your country, and how we define and use tariff information,
see our website.
During setup we only ask for the type of tariff. This is required to set up a Property. In the My Properties section, you can also add additional optional information that will help you get improved savings:
- Name of Supplier - the name of the company or organisation you get electricity from
- Name of Tariff - what your supplier calls the tariff you are on
- Max kW of your tariff (only applies in some countries)
This information can usually be found on your electricity bill.
