A Room (

) is a single space within a Property (
). You can define any number of Rooms for your Property, and save them to be used in Profiles (
).
Why do we use Rooms?
For single device Controllers like the Polare Mini, your device will be in a single Room, so we need information about how to heat that room. For those Controllers, the Room is also the most obvious way to display the information you want about where your Controller is, and what it is doing.
Types of Room
We allow for some basic types of Room, shown below. The type of Room is not very important, it is just for easy identification for you in our app. So you can rename each Room to whatever you wish if these options don't fit.
The dimensions, location and characteristics of the Room are important. We ask for the following information during
Setup:
- Floor area. Length and width in meters - this affects thermodynamic calculations.
- Number of windows. This affects thermodynamic calculations.
- Number of windows that get regular sunlight. This affects heat gain into the room from the sun.
- External walls. The number of walls that are facing the outside of the building (the other side of the wall is outdoors) - this affects heat loss.
- Floor. Which floor of the house or building the room is on (ground floor, first floor, etc) - this affects heat loss and gain.
